del Río Llobregat was established in 1962, by the French Group Prouvost
in partnership with local manufacturers, spinners and wool dealers. In 1988 it was taken over by the Chargeurs group and still belongs to it today for the most part. Partnership with Spanish manufacturers has been preserved. PRLL is specialist in providing third parties with scouring and combing services for wool which comes from Australia (60%), South Africa and South America (20%) and Spain (20%). Production reaches 10,000 tons per year, i.e. 44 tons per day, which means some 80 daily tons of processed greasy wool. That equals the amount of wool produced by a livestock of 6 million sheep. Out of the overall quantity of processed wool, 30% is intended for the domestic market while the remaining 70% is sold in Europe, mainly to Italy. As the first combing company in the country, it stands for 75%, of the overall Spanish production capacity and 1,5% of the world´s production capacity. |
